(A New Map of Georgia) A map of Georgia from the mid-nineteenth century by one of the larger American publishers. Shows a number of political and topographic details, including counties, main railroads and cities. Atlanta appears on the map as a rail center, but Milledgeville is still the capital. Hand colored lithograph, 11 1/2" x 14 1/2" within plate, 13 3/4" x 17 1/4" at margins. Portions of margins missing including a 1 1/2" semicircle from the top middle, a 4" x 1" portion of the top right, a 1 3/4" x 1/4" portion of the right margin, and a 2" tear to the bottom right. There is minimal effect to the plate itself, with only a little damage to the extreme top right. vg-/--.
