First edition, fifth printing. Blue cloth binding is well worn along edges and gilt is worn off. In later printing dust jacket with edge wear and minor chipping. Inscribed by Rand on ffep "To Rose Davidson- / -one of my first friends at / the Warner's Studios- / Cordially, / Ayn Rand / December 20, 1943." Rand immigrated to the United States, first living in Chicago then heading to Hollywood to make her career. It was there that she began doing odd jobs for Warner's Studios. While at Warner's, a chance run in with Cecil B. DeMille landed her a screen role as an extra then later work as a script writer. An important piece of Rand memorabilia referencing her early life in the States. g/vg-.
