Elizabeth II & Philip signed Christmas Card

Christmas 1953.

Elizabeth II, Queen of Great Britain, & Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. The Christmas card from Elizabeth II’s coronation year with a fine coronation day family portrait. Christmas card signed by both, no place, 1953. Elizabeth II was crowned on June 2, 1953, and this Christmas card from that year, a large, folded ivory card measuring 10” x 8”, has the royal crest printed in gold on the front. On the inside left panel is the printed greeting, “With best wishes for Christmas and the New Year,” and on the inside right is a find 6 ½” x 5 ½” color photograph of the royal family, taken on Coronation Day, that shows them standing together in the Throne Room at Buckingham Palace. The Queen is resplendent in her coronation dress, robes and crown. Prince Philip is in uniform, and their two very young children, Prince Charles and Princess Anne, are both dressed in white. The card is signed in the border below the photo by the Queen, “Elizabeth R,” and by her husband, “Philip,” and their signatures are dark and clear. The Queen has added the date of 1953. A very attractive item that is in fine condition. The Queen’s Christmas card from her Coronation year is uncommon, especially in such excellent condition.
