February 27, 11:00 AM- 2:00 PM:
Book signing and discussion with author Joe Gatins

Georgia author Joe Gatins will be discussing and signing copies of his latest book, “We Were Dancing on a Volcano: Bloodlines and Fault Lines of a Star-Crossed Atlanta Family,” here in the gallery on Saturday Feb 27th. Gatins' book is a fascinating, unsentimental glimpse into the lives of some of the greatest figures that rebuilt Atlanta in the New South. This no-holds-barred biography centers on a remarkable French grandmother and her love affair with Atlanta beginning in 1914. Widowed at 35 by a colorful Irish grandfather - an owner of the Georgian Terrace Hotel - Egle de Villelume-Sombreuil Gatins returned to Paris with their only child, worked in the suffragist movement and socialized with the salon crowd before enduring her son's three years of imprisonment behind Nazi lines.
