Author Biography

David McCullough
David McCullough (1933- ) has become one of the United States' most popular and accomplished historians. He was born in Pittsburgh and attended Yale where he studied English. His works, which are known for their elegant prose and vivid accounts of the lives of historic figures, have won numerous, including Pulitzer Prizes for his biographies Truman and John Adams and several National Book Awards and Francis Parkman Prizes. McCullough was honored with the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2006. He is also an accomplished teacher, speaker, and essayist.
