Black and white engraving of Andrews's portrait of Zachary Taylor, the twelfth president of the United States (1849-1850). He was a military General for the United States Army. He died of gastroenteritis sixteen months into his presidency. Plate is 8 1/2 x 13 inches, the margin is 16 x 19 1/2 inches, originally published in The White House Gallery of Official Portraits of the Presidents in 1901, contains a fac-similie of Taylor's signature to the bottom of the plate, chip to the bottom left corner. text to the back concerning Taylor's life and political carrer, also published in The White House Gallery of Official Portraits of the Presidents, 16 x 19 1/2 inches, text written by H. Clay Evans, commissioner of pension, chipping to the right and left sides, binding holes along the left side of the margin, two light vignettes to the margin in a sepia tone. nrfn/--.
