Plate 118 in the collected Atlas to Accompany the Official Records of the Union and Confederate Armies, the most detailed atlas of the Civil War published. A 19 1/2" x 16 1/4" map of the Southeast, including all but the most Southern regions of the Alabama and Georgia, Tennessee, The Carolinas, Kentucky, and Southern Virginia. The map is an accumulation of Union Army movements during the course of the Civil War. Also noted is the path of Jefferson Davis' flight from North Carolina to Georgia, where it is noted that "Jeff. Davis captured about one Mile North of Irwinville, May 10, 1865. There are two smaller maps inset to the right of the main: a 7 1/2" x 9" Map illustrating the Operations of the Seventh Division under Brig. Gen. G.W. Morgan Cumberland Gap, Tenn., during a portion of the year 1862, and a 7 1/2" x 7 1/4" Map of the Environs of Petersburg, VA., from the Appomattox River to Ft. Howard, showing the Positions of the Entrenched Lines occupied by the Ninth Army Corps, A.P. During the Siege. Total 27 1/4" x 17" within plate, 29 1/4" x 18 1/4" at margins. Fine condition. fn/--.
