Author Biography

John Steinbeck
John Steinbeck (1902-1968) is one of the most popular American authors of the twentieth century. His work, which reflects his youth in Salinas California, is known for his portrayals of flawed, lower class characters facing troubled times by leaning on each other. This style is epitomized by his Pulitzer Prize winning epic The Grapes of Wrath (1939). In total he wrote 16 novels, six non-fiction books, and 3 collections of short stories. Steinbeck went on to win the 1962 Nobel Prize for Literature.
