Giclee Print of Cherokee Map
Atlanta, GA:
Grey Parrot Gallery
2009.
(A Map of that part of Georgia Occupied by the Cherokee Indians Taken from an Actual Survey made during the present year 1831) The Grey Parrot Gallery is offering a limited edition run of one of the rarest Georgia history maps in our collection. In
1831, following the discovery of gold in NW Georgia, the State Legislature commissioned a map of the territories still
owned by the Cherokees in order to survey the land and divide it for the subsequent land lottery. It would take another
seven years before the Cherokees were entirely removed, but this map marks the beginning of the long and painful process
that removed the last of the native tribes from the state of Georgia. This map even includes in the original owner’s hand
the names of the counties that these territories would become.
The map is 29 x 21.5 in. and reproduced through museum standard Giclée printing process. The highly detailed digitizing
process, the archival inks and the cotton linen paper used for these reproductions guarantee the finest standard for any
serious collector. This limited edition will be of only 150 prints, each hand numbered with a certificate of authenticity.
